Terpenes are strongly aromatic natural substances that are commonly found in many plants and even fruits and vegetables. In cannabis, we can find around two hundred species (at least that many have been found and described so far - since it is still an unexplored topic, it is quite possible that there are more). In cannabis, terpenes are responsible for the plant's distinct aroma and bitter taste. So, if you ever buy any hemp or CBD product and smell a strong hemp smell, it is not so much the CBD itself as the terpenes that are responsible for it.
